WDWmobile.com is a free web site that is optimized for mobile phones. One of its best attributes is that it works on almost any mobile phone with an internet browser, not just smartphones like iPhones or BlackBerrys. Almost every phone made in the last few years has at least a basic browser; which is all you need. If you are unsure how to find it on your phone, check your documentation.
WDWmobile.com will grow over time to include more and more functions and features. Currently, though, it is comprised of the following services:
PassPass allows people with extra FastPasses the ability to create a listing on the WDWmobile.com site that can be seen by people looking for FastPasses. "Givers" are able to fairly quickly make a listing that includes information such as the attraction the FastPasses are for, the number of FastPasses available, what time they are valid, where you (the giver) currently are, etc. The "taker" is able to see this information and, if interested, "claim" the FastPasses. The giver is notified once this takes place, so that he or she knows someone is on the way. If both parties have enabled text messaging for their account (no extra charge), they are able to communicate back and forth without exposing their mobile phone numbers; the WDWmobile.com site protects the numbers and uses usernames instead.
The ideal candidate for a taker, or receiver, would be someone that has only a limited time in the parks, for example, and simply cannot experience all attractions without some extra FastPasses. However, we give the giver full discretion as whether or not he or she wishes to grant the request of the taker.
To see if any FastPasses are available, simply select a park, and then an attraction from the WDWmobile.com site on your phone. If there are any available, a link to claim them will be displayed.
To give away FastPasses, do the same...simply navigate to the attraction they are for, and select the link to create a PassPass listing.
Please do not abuse this system by taking considerably more FastPasses than you give away.
Please note that FastPass is a trademark of Disney.
The Wait Times features is available for every attraction in all four parks (water parks were omitted as very few people carry their mobile phones in and around water). Users are able to, as they enter or pass an attraction, enter wait times (as noted on signage) into a form on the WDWmobile.com web site. This data is saved to a database, and is instantly presented to all other users. This is the most efficient way to gather real-time wait times across the parks, as even WDWs "Tip Boards" provide often old data and times.
When you enter times, you are able to enter the standby wait time and the current FastPass Return Time (what time you could use the FastPass if you were to obtain one then), if it is a FastPass attraction. This process (of opening your phone, navigating to and through the WDWmobile.com site, and entering the data) can take as little as 45 seconds with a strong phone signal. I know people don't want to waste time on their phones, so the process is quick and easy. It is easy to do while in line, and when all of the other users do it, everyone benefits from up-to-the-minute wait times for all attractions across all parks.
If you have a favorite attraction(s) that you want to keep tabs on, you can subscribe to text message notifications. Simply navigate to that attraction on the WDWmobile.com site, and follow the instructions. Once subscribed, each time new data is received for that attraction (wait time data), you are instantly sent a text message with the new times.
You may cancel the subscription at any time during the day by going to the same page you subscribed at. All subscriptions automatically expire at the end of the day, so you don't have to worry about getting text messages the next day. There is no fee for this service, however depending upon your mobile phone carrier and plan, you may be charged for text messages. Please be aware of this before using the service to prevent a large bill when you get home!
News Feed NEW
Sometimes events happen at WDW that you just have to see...Space Mountain with the lights on...soft openings of new attractions...celebrity sightings...unexpected character sightings. Wouldn't it be great if you could know about these events, even if you weren't one of the lucky people to be "in the right place at the right time?"
The new News Feed feature of WDWmobile.com hopes to do just that. If you are in the parks, and see something that you feel others would like to know about, simply go to the WDWmobile.com site, select the park you're in, and follow the News Feed link. You are able to enter a news message (a post, up to 140 characters, like Twitter) that is instantly posted to the News Feed for that park. This is a great way to share the magic with others, and for you to make memories that you otherwise wouldn't have been able to!
